Inspiration

Sometime in 1946, NS 4015 was decorated with long lines of lights to celebrate an unknown occasion, though this was likely related to post-war restorations. During a dark evening, it was captured on a photo which served as inspiration for the Festive NS 4000.
Trivia
- The Festive NS 4000 is the first of the Festive series of limited rolling stock.
- The subsequent festive themed rolling stock are the Festive 3rd Class Bolkop, Festive NS 2600, and Festive Tree Transporter.
- A week after the initial release of the locomotive, it received a temporary snow plough livery.
- The Festive NS 4000 has no austerity smokebox livery, despite its standard counterpart and the Festive NS 4700 having it.
- The Festive NS 4000 was available first from version 0.3.1, as well as version 0.4.45.
- The Festive NS 4000 will likely not be sold again because of the 'release year, redemption year' pattern of event rolling stock.
