Shunting is a common railway practice, the process of which entails sorting and organizing different wagons, sometimes coaches or other forms of rolling stock together and into complete trains, or by breaking them down into smaller, easier to move units or groups.
This practice is typically found in marshalling yards, industrial sidings, maintenance depots, harbours and stations.
Shunting is a versatile process, which is essential for the smooth operation of railways.
Streamlined's shunting is simple, players would manually assemble their own train from scratch in the consist editor, and then roll back and forth to each predetermined location, thus making gameplay somewhat stagnant and repetitive.
However, a shunting update is in the works which plans to completely overhaul shunting mechanics and gameplay.
