Currency

From Official Streamlined Wiki

Streamlined makes use of the Dutch guilder (or 'gulden' in Dutch), the currency the Netherlands used since the 14th century until the euro took over in 2002. In a tycoon-style, gulden can be used to purchase better locomotives and wagons to earn more gulden. Additionally, experience is also used.

Acquisition of gulden

Playing

Basic

Gulden can be obtained by either purchasing them from the in-game shop or by driving routes. How much you earn depends on a couple factors, but most importantly:

  • How much freight or passengers your train transports;
  • Whether your train contains a special wagon;
  • The signal and stopping accuracy bonusses;
  • Your level.

At the end of a route, the bonusses can grant up to 50% of earnings.

More in-depth

Basic reward

The game first calculates how much you earn for a route based on:

  • How much freight or passengers your train transports;
    • For passengers, it also checks the passenger class and the comfort level they use
  • Whether your train contains a special wagon;
  • The value given to the route;
  • Your level.

The level bonus is a small bonus that increases up to level 100. It gets calculated by dividing your level by 33 and adding 1, and it multiplies your earnings by that. This will provide a roughly 3% bonus per level. For example, at level 5 the level bonus is 5/33+1=1,15. If you would earn 100, with the level bonus you would earn 100×1,15=115.

For freight, the full calculation is:

Route Value × Amount of freight × Special bonus × Level bonus = Basic reward

The calculation looks slightly different for passenger routes, due to the passenger classes and comfort rates also playing a role. Streamlined treats first, second and third class passengers as if they are 6, 2 and 1 passenger(s) respectively. The five comfort ratings have their own multipliers; 'none' has the lowest with 0,8, which increased with 0,1 for each higher rating. 'Excellent' has the highest at 1,2. The full passenger calculation is:

Route Value × Amount of passengers × Passenger class × Comfort rating × Special bonus × Level bonus = Basic reward

If a route has multiple stops, a percentage of this reward will be granted at each successful stop. If the route only has two stops (exclusively found in freight) the full basic reward will be given after successfully completing the route.

Bonusses

At the final stop, the bonusses will also be given to the player. The bonusses can be worth 25% of the basic reward each, 50% together. However, if less signals are followed or the train has stopped partially outside loading zones, the respective bonusses will be lower.

The in-game shop.

The signal bonus looks at how many of the signals that were passed were green. If a route has 10 signals and all 10 were green when passed, the player will receive the full 25% bonus. If only five signals were green, half of the signals, the bonus will be 12,5%, half of 25.

The stopping accuracy works similarly, but instead looks at how much of the train was inside the loading zones on average. This will display a percentage at the end. 100% stopping accuracy means the bonus is 25%; 50% stopping accuracy means the bonus will be 12,5%.

Purchasing

Gulden can also be purchased with robux through the in-game shop. This remains the fastest method of getting gulden.

Acquisition of experience

Experience is used to increase your level, which in turn will unlock routes and make rolling stock cheaper, up until their unlock levels. It can only be acquired by completing routes. It gets rewarded with the 'rewards' part of the calculations, see gulden for those.

The main difference between earning gulden and experience is that the level bonus for gulden is not your level divided by 33 plus 1, but instead it is your level divided by 22 plus 1. This will provide a roughly 4,5% bonus per level and, much like the gulden level bonus, stops increasing at level 100.
