Historical Detail
HSM
Between 1880-1889 the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschapij (HSM) ordered 41 mail vans at the factories Beijnes and Werkspoor, they were numbered HSM L 421-462. During HSM time the six youngest vans got a third axle to increase the maximum load from 5000 kg to 7500 kg.
NS
When the HSM and Maatschappij tot Exploitatie van de Staatsspoorwegen (SS) merged in 1921, the 2 axled vans were renumbered to NS P 2026-2062 and the 3 axled vans NS P 3001-3006. In 1932 the 3rd axle was removed and the vans were renumbered to NS P 2001-2006. In the 1933 multiple vans became guards van (classed as Dg) and were renumbered to Dg 2576-2585. In 1940 the remaining vans were reclassed and renumberd to NS Dg 2621-2631.
The last of these vans were withdrawn and scrapped in 1953.
