Historical details
The Nederlandsche Centraal-Spoorweg-Maatschappij (NCS) had ordered a total of 50 coal wagons from Talbot. Arriving in 1916, 33 of them did not have a brake hut installed while the remaining 17 were fitted with one. The brake huts were completely unused during the 1930's, but would not be removed unless in poor condition. A good chunk of the wagons would be withdrawn from service before the 1940's, however, some would survive due to the lack of available rolling stock, with NS needing all they could muster. After the Second World War, the bogies were already around 35 years old by then, to try and counter this, some wagons would have their old and worn bogies replaced with ex-USATC bogies instead.
Trivia
- The Braked GTR coal wagon has the handbrake lever located outside instead of the usual inside of the brakehut.
- It was added in version 0.9.6.
