Historical Detail
Between 1935 and 1939 the NS ordered a new series of steel coaches from Werkspoor for international trains to neighbouring countries like Germany, Belgium and France. The coaches were painted olive green with silver roofs but with the threat of war the roofs were repainted grey. In 1956 the coaches were repainted to berlin blue, no Prewar Bolkops were ever painted turquoise.
The 1st Class Prewar Bolkop is based of the NS ABd 7401-7410 class built in 1939. They had 8/14 first class seats and 36/42 second class seats. After World War 2, a lot of them were either stolen or destroyed. Before being withdrawn and taken out of service, all coaches got renumbered and reclassed multiple times.
Trivia
- Despite the real life counterpart carrying both first and second class passengers, the in-game variant only carries first class.
- In version 0.8.11, all the Prewar Bolkops had their comfort level reduced from Excellent to Good.
- The 1st Class Prewar Bolkop was released in version 0.4.18, together with the Combined Luggage Bolkop, 2nd Class Prewar Bolkop and the 3rd Class Prewar Bolkop.
